India wins it’s first Olympic Gold

Yeiyy! I am so happy. India has won it’s first individual Gold medal in Beijing Olympics 2008. Abhinav bindra has won it in 10m Air Rifle in Men’s category. The details are as below. Qinan Zhu of China and Henri Hakkinen of Finland have come second and third respectively.

Abhinav Bindra shot a total score of 700.5 beating Qinan Zhu, the Gold medalist of Athens Olympics 2004, of China who scored 699.7. Zhu however still holds the world record of scoring 702 in Athens Olympics.

Abhinav Bindra hails from Chandigarh / DehraDun, India. He was ranked 7 before this Beijing Olympics. He is a recipient of the Arjuna award in 2001 and the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award for the year 2001-2002. He is also the CEO of Abhinav Futuristics. Here is the link to his Olympics profile.
